BHUSY Coin Challenge

posted Dec 9, 2009 6:28 PM by Ben Rothman

BHUSY Coin Challenge

This year, BHUSY 8th - 12th graders will be competing against each other in the first ever BHUSY Coin Challenge to see which grade can raise the most money for Tikun Olam.

How the Coin Challenge Works:
1.       Money is given a point value. Dollar bills are worth negative points and coins are worth positive points. Here is a list of the point value for each bill or coin:
Penny = 1 point
Nickel = 5 points
Dime = 10 points
Quarter = 25 points
Silver Dollar = 100 points
$1 bill = -100 points
$5 bill = -500 points
$10 bill = -1000 points
$20 bill = -2000 points

2.       The grade with the most amount of positive points (or least negative points) will be the winners of the BHUSY Coin Challenge.

What do the winners get?
BHUSY's goal is to raise $2000 for Tikun Olam this year.  If we reach our goal, we get to shave Youth Director Chris Herman's hair into a Mohawk and dye it any color and, of course, pride.

The deadline to raise the $2000 is April 22.
So remember to bring your coins to BHUSY's programs and help your grade win the BHUSY Coin Challenge.

BHUSY Membership Contest

posted Aug 4, 2009 3:28 AM by Ben Rothman   [ updated Aug 4, 2009 3:34 AM ]

BHUSY is looking to increase its membership.
Our 2009-2010 membership goal is 100 members.

To help reach our goal, we are having a membership contest, encouraging all BHUSY members to help increase our numbers.

How It Works

Starting with our opening program on August 29 until the end of the year, we're keeping track of who brings in new members. At the end of the contest period, whoever brings in at least four new members will qualify to win an 8GB iPOD Touch. The member that brings in the most new members will win the 8GB iPOD Touch.

To keep the accounting straight, make sure you tell your recruits to report your name as the member who got them to sign up. They can use the bottom of the membership signup form to do that. If they are using the online membership form, they can just write it in the "referred by" box at the bottom of the page.

Official Rules

1. Must be a member of BHUSY to participate

2. Must bring in at least 4 new members to qualify to win an 8GB iPOD Touch.

3. The person who brings in the most (above 4) new members will win the 8GB iPOD touch. In the event of a tie, all leading particiapants will enter into a random drawing. The name selected will win the 8GB iPOD Touch.

4. To qualify as a new member, the recruited must be;
i. At least two years removed from being a BHUSY or BHCBE Kadima Member.
ii. At least two years removed from being a member of any other CHUSY Region USY or Kadima Chapter.
iii. Has never been affiliated with Kadima or USY
iv. Must be Jewish

5. Only one member can be credited for each recruitment. In other words if two current members work to recruit a new member, only one of them can be credited with the recruitment. The credit should be reported by the recruited member. If reported by the recruiter, the recruited member must confirm the report.

HANUKAH LIGHTS IN WINDOWS ACROSS AMERICA

posted Dec 11, 2008 3:21 PM by Unknown user   [ updated Dec 11, 2008 10:07 PM by Unknown user ]

     This year, in response to terrorism, to violence and to the darkness that surrounds us, we call on Jews across America to place a Hanukah Menorah/Hanukiyah at our windows, facing the street, in solidarity with the victims of terror, in pride of our Jewish heritage, and to add light to the world outside. May this gesture add to our determination to exercise our role of bringing light to the world, and may it help dispel some of the darkness that surrounds us.

-Rabbi Allan Kensky
